I have been working on developing painting and drawing over the past few years and its become a real passion of mine.
The way I have painted is based on my experiences of being somewhere; different times of the year affect how space feels and what interests me. As a London resident I have been intrigued by wild urban sites due to their weighty legacy, from completely urban to natural wildlife haven presents a hopeful story to me of change and how a space can evolve so dramatically so quickly. I like to present and evoke this hope in these paintings. I have also created pieces based on Dorset coast with inspiration coming from the the colours in water soaked stones, the paradox of the cliff boundaries pitted with fossilised life, crumbling and soft up close, whilst solid and supporting.
I have always made images and originally studied architecture but have come back to painting in the last few years as an expressive outlet. I find it very joyful to work with colour and experiment and I am interested in seeing how much or how little can be shown to evoke an atmosphere.
